Experiments in Mixed-Media Collage

You will spend the day exploring a variety of ways to express thoughts, feelings, and themes in your artwork or use the techniques to simply explore the materials intuitively. I will facilitate an atmosphere of safety, playfulness, and experimentation as I demonstrate a variety of techniques using paint, papers, transfers, and other media, while sprinkling in some exercises to tickle your muse. This class cultivates your personal creativity as you practice letting go of the need to control the outcome of your work, instead creating for the sheer pleasure of the process, your intuition at the helm.

We will use brushes, our fingers, rubbings, pencils, crayons, monoprinting, and other implements and processes to add line and color to our creations, as we work on two or three pieces simultaneously. You can choose the surface you would like to work on, be it can pages in your journal, canvas, wood, claybord, canvasboard, or watercolor paper. Have at least 3 main surfaces to work on, and extra paper to play with and try out techniques. This class is designed for all levels of experience, from the beginner just starting to explore the world of mixed media, to the more seasoned artist who wants to free up their work.
